ياO مَنone whose تَشَكّيهِhis suffering فيin قَلبيmy heart وَفيand in بَصريmy sight
May your glory be spared an illness that calls for visits,
O you whose suffering is in my heart and in my eyes!
ياO مَنone who تَبيتُspend the night صُروفُvicissitudes الدَهرِof time غافِلَةًheedless
عَنّيof me إِذاwhenever باتَhe passes the night مَحروساًprotected مِنَfrom الغَيرِadverse changes
O you—time’s vicissitudes spend the night heedless
of me whenever you pass the night protected from adversity.
فَماso not أُباليI care بِمَنabout whom غالَdestroyed الزَمانُtime إِذاif
وَقانِيَprotected me اللَهُGod فيconcerning عَليائِهِhis highness حَذَريwhat I fear
So I care not whom time destroys, so long as
God spares me what I dread for your highness.
