قَدindeed كُنتُI was ذاholding قَولَينِtwo opinions فيكَabout you وَمُشكِلاًand uncertain
هَلdoes يَستَهِلُّrain down نَداكَyour bounty أَمor هُوَit جامِدُfrozen
I had been of two minds about you, and was uncertain:
Does your bounty rain down, or is it frozen?
فَأَفَدتَنيso you gave me ثَلَجَcoolness اليَقينِcertainty وَرَدَّنيand turned me back
مافيكَwhat is in you مِنof لُؤمٍbaseness وَصَدريand my breast بارِدُcool
So you gave me the coolness of certainty, and I was turned back
by the baseness in you, with my breast cool.
