لَكَyou have ياO أَميرَCommander المُؤمِنينَthe Faithful يَدٌa hand
لَكَ يا أَميرَ المُؤمِنينَ يَدٌ
فيin dealing with الظالِمينَthe wrongdoers وَأَخذِهِمand seizing them لَبِقَهdeft
في الظالِمينَ وَأَخذِهِم لَبِقَه
You have, O Commander of the Faithful, a hand
You have power, O Commander of the Faithful,
deft in dealing with wrongdoers and seizing them.
Over the unjust and their sly ways.
ضَمِنَتit guaranteed إِعادَةَthe restoration of كُلِّevery مُغتَصَبٍusurped thing
ضَمِنَت إِعادَةَ كُلِّ مُغتَصَبٍ
فَلِأَيِّthen for what مَعنىًreason تُترَكُis left الطَبَقَهthe upper storey
فَلِأَيِّ مَعنىً تُترَكُ الطَبَقَه
It has guaranteed the restoration of all usurped property;
You have promised to restore all that was taken,
why, then, is the upper storey left unrestored?
Why then leave this class behind?
أَوَلَستَand are you not تَعلَمُyou know أَنَّهاthat it شُرِيَتwas purchased
أَوَلَستَ تَعلَمُ أَنَّها شُرِيَت
وَاِبنُand the son of الجَليبِal-Jalib مُضايقٌharassing سَرِقَهa thief
وَاِبنُ الجَليبِ مُضايقٌ سَرِقَه
And do you not know that it was purchased,
Do you not know it is their livelihood,
while Ibn al-Jalib is a harassing thief?
While the mayor's son harasses and robs them?
فَاِنفِذso enforce قَضاءَكَyour judgment فيin اِستِعادَتِهاrecovering it
فَاِنفِذ قَضاءَكَ في اِستِعادَتِها
فَلَقَدfor indeed تَرَكتَyou have left قُلوبَناour hearts عَلِقَهsuspended
فَلَقَد تَرَكتَ قُلوبَنا عَلِقَه
So enforce your judgment to recover it,
So execute your judgment to regain it,
for you have indeed left our hearts in suspense.
For you have left our hearts hanging.
