تَجِدهُ لِما تَقَدَّمَهُ مُبايِن

Reflect on the age in which we live;

Reflect upon an era we're in

You will find it unlike what preceded it.

أَلَيسَ مَثالِبُ الماضينَ فيها

أَلَيسَ مَثالِبُ الماضينَ فيها

صَلاحٌ أَن تَكونَ لَنا مَحاسِن

صَلاحٌ أَن تَكونَ لَنا مَحاسِن

Do not the faults of those gone before have in them

Don't the faults of days gone by

Enough goodness to count as virtues for us?

Offer virtue we might yet explore
