Stand amid the dwellings’ corners and proclaim:

The mother of glory has borne a generous son.

Despite her barrenness, she brought him forth—a lion of al-Shara,

a mountain of wisdom, lavish in bounty, with a thronged assembly.

A rain cloud has arisen to bestow noble favors,

enriching the poor and quenching the thirsty.

The pregnant she-camels wept for their calves, while smiles appeared

on the swords in their scabbards at his arrival.

How wondrous he is in the cradle, already unerring

in his deeds, in sending forth and bringing in!

He gave supporter and enemy each his due,

so he healed breasts and crushed livers.

So rejoice, Imad al-Din, delighting in one auspicious

in arrival and blessed in birth.

It is as though he had already stretched out, from close by, toward the

heights, the hand of a seasoned, practiced man.

And he became the army’s leader, a lion of the lair,

strutting through the swaying forest of spears,

clad, like his father, in the two robes of valor

and generosity, on days of bounty and mounted combat,

imitating, in his generosity and proud dignity,

the virtues of his generous forefathers.

True to their ancestral roots, he is traced to

his virtues and customary ways in noble deeds,

until you see in him a noble son whose like was never seen

by your generous forefathers among their children.
