مَعْلُومِيَ المعلومُ يا سيِّدي

مَعْلُومِيَ المعلومُ يا سيِّدي

يحْفظُه الدِّيوانُ والدَّفْتَرُ

يحْفظُه الدِّيوانُ والدَّفْتَرُ

My well-known stipend, my lord,

My knowledge, O my Master,

is kept in the register and the ledger;

Is kept in the ledger and daily planner

كأنه هَمْزَةُ وَصْلٍ بهِ

كأنه هَمْزَةُ وَصْلٍ بهِ

يُرْسَم في الخَطِّ ولا يُذْكَرُ

يُرْسَم في الخَطِّ ولا يُذْكَرُ

as though it were a linking hamza therein—

As if it were a joining hamza -

written in the script, but not uttered.
