قلتُ لِمْ تشتري الغلام كبيراً

قلتُ لِمْ تشتري الغلام كبيراً

وصِغارُ الغِلْمانِ لِلَّهْوِ عُدَّهْ

وصِغارُ الغِلْمانِ لِلَّهْوِ عُدَّهْ

I said, “Why do you buy the boy full-grown,

I asked, "Why did you buy an older slave,

when young boys are the means for amusement?”

When younger slaves are more fun for play?"

قال إنَّا لم نأْخُذِ اليومَ إلاَّ

قال إنَّا لم نأْخُذِ اليومَ إلاَّ

مَن وجَدْنَا مَتاعَنا اليومَ عِنْدَهْ

مَن وجَدْنَا مَتاعَنا اليومَ عِنْدَهْ

He said, “Today we have taken only

He said, "We only took today

the one with whom we found our goods today.”

Those we found had goods of ours today."
