صَرَف اللِّحاظَ عن الوُشَا
ةِending of “slanderers”; no independent meaning إلىtoward الكَئِيبthe sorrowful one وماand not يَسُرُّهْpleases him
ةِ إلى الكَئِيب وما يَسُرُّهْ
He turned his glances away from the slanderers
He turned his gaze from joyfulness
toward the sorrowful one, and it does not please him;
To grief, which always pleases him,
أبداًalways يَميِلُhe inclines إليهمُtoward them
أبداً يَميِلُ إليهمُ
مَيْلَthe inclination of المريضِthe sick man لِمَاtoward what يضُرُّهْharms him
مَيْلَ المريضِ لِمَا يضُرُّهْ
always he inclines toward them,
Just as a sick man's fancy strays
as a sick man inclines toward what harms him.
To things that will do further harm.
