He came on the day of Badr, himself a full moon encircled
The day of Badr came, and it was a full moon surrounded
by stars of heaven that his battalions made rise.
By stars in a sky unveiled by its battalions.

So when they emerged amid the battle dust, the foes beheld
So when they appeared in Al-Naq`a, the enemies saw
at their hands a day of misery whose stars never set.
A day of misery whose planets never set.
