لِرَسُولِfor the Messenger of الإلهِGod أعْلَىthe highest مَقامٍstation
لِرَسُولِ الإلهِ أعْلَى مَقامٍ
ليسdoes not يَدْرِيknow بهof it جميعُall الْكَلامِspeech
ليس يَدْرِي به جميعُ الْكَلامِ
God's Messenger has the highest station.
The messenger of God has the highest station
All speech together cannot fathom it.
That all speech does not comprehend
ولهand he has هِمَّةٌaspiration وعَزْمٌand resolve رفيعٌlofty
وله هِمَّةٌ وعَزْمٌ رفيعٌ
جَلَّis exalted عنabove أنthat يُرْتَضَىbe satisfied بمِلْكِwith possession of الحُطامِworldly debris
جَلَّ عن أن يُرْتَضَى بمِلْكِ الحُطامِ
His are aspiration and lofty resolve,
He has great resolve and noble determination
Too exalted to be satisfied with owning worldly debris.
Far above desiring the possession of ruins
فلذاso, for this reason لمdid not يكُنْexist لهfor him مِيراثٌan inheritance
فلذا لم يكُنْ له مِيراثٌ
غيرَother than شَرْعٍsacred law وغيرَand other than عِلْمٍknowledge سَامِيlofty
غيرَ شَرْعٍ وغيرَ عِلْمٍ سَامِي
Thus he left no inheritance
Thus he had no inheritance
Except sacred law and lofty knowledge.
Other than law and sublime knowledge
لوif تكونwere to be الدُّنْياthe world لهhis مِيراثاًan inheritance
لو تكون الدُّنْيا له مِيراثاً
مِثْلَlike ماwhat كانwas فيamong جميعِall الأنامِhumankind
مِثْلَ ما كان في جميعِ الأنامِ
Were the world his legacy,
If the world was made his inheritance
As was the case among all humankind,
Like what all people possessed
ماnot حَواهَاpossessed it الصِّدِّيقُal-Siddiq فيamong عَصَباتٍresiduary heirs
ما حَواهَا الصِّدِّيقُ في عَصَباتٍ
وذَوِيand those entitled to الفَرْضِthe prescribed share منamong أُلِيthose with الأرْحامِblood ties
وذَوِي الفَرْضِ من أُلِي الأرْحامِ
Al-Siddiq would not have possessed it among residuary heirs
That which As-Siddiq accumulated in tribes
And those entitled to fixed shares among blood relatives.
And those with prescribed shares of relatives
وهْوand he حَيٌّalive فيin قَبْرِهhis grave ورسولٌand a messenger
وهْو حَيٌّ في قَبْرِه ورسولٌ
لمdid not يُوَرِّثْtransmit the estate of حَيّاًa living person ذَوُوthose endowed with الأحْلامِsound judgment
لم يُوَرِّثْ حَيّاً ذَوُو الأحْلامِ
And he is alive in his grave, and a messenger;
While he lives in his grave and a messenger
Those of sound judgment do not distribute a living person's estate.
Who did not bequeath to the living, possessors of dreams
فَدَكٌFadak قدindeed قضَتْhas decreed عليْناupon us بهذاwith this
فَدَكٌ قد قضَتْ عليْنا بهذا
وحديثُand the account of العَبَّاسِal-Abbas والأعْلامِand the eminent figures
وحديثُ العَبَّاسِ والأعْلامِ
Fadak has indeed pronounced this judgment upon us,
So Fadak has judged us with this
And so has the account of al-Abbas and the eminent figures.
And the narration of Al-‘Abbas and the flags
فادْرِso understand هذاthis فإنهfor it is جَوْهَرٌa jewel قدindeed; already
فادْرِ هذا فإنه جَوْهَرٌ قد
حَفِظتْهhave preserved it خَزائنُtreasuries الأفْهامِintellects
حَفِظتْه خَزائنُ الأفْهامِ
So understand this, for it is a jewel that has
Know this for it is a jewel that
Been preserved by the treasuries of understanding.
The treasuries of minds have preserved
لاlet not يَغُرَّنَّكdeceive you الذيwhat قالsaid قومٌsome people
لا يَغُرَّنَّك الذي قال قومٌ
حينwhen ضَلُّواthey strayed فيin مَهْمَهِa trackless wilderness الأوْهامِdelusions
حين ضَلُّوا في مَهْمَهِ الأوْهامِ
Let not what some people said deceive you
Do not be fooled by what a people have said
When they strayed in the wilderness of delusions.
When they went astray in the confusion of delusions
