وبلدةٍ سُكَّانُها في لَظَى

وبلدةٍ سُكَّانُها في لَظَى

في الصَّيْفِ من حَرٍ لها ناصِبِ

في الصَّيْفِ من حَرٍ لها ناصِبِ

Many a town has its people in the Blaze,

And a town whose inhabitants are in a blaze,

in summer, under its exhausting heat;

in summer, from its oppressive heat;

ترى بها الماشي بُعَيْدَ الضُّحَى

ترى بها الماشي بُعَيْدَ الضُّحَى

مُنْتعِلاً نَعْلَ أبِي طالبِ

مُنْتعِلاً نَعْلَ أبِي طالبِ

there, just after midmorning, you see a man walking,

there you see the walker shortly after midmorning,

shod in the sandal of Abu Talib.
