مَنْزِلٌ ضَيِّقٌ ولا حُسْنَ فيه

مَنْزِلٌ ضَيِّقٌ ولا حُسْنَ فيه

غيرُ تَهْوِينِ ضِيقِ قَبْرٍ كَرِيهِ

غيرُ تَهْوِينِ ضِيقِ قَبْرٍ كَرِيهِ

A cramped dwelling with nothing good in it,

Except that it makes a loathsome grave's narrowness seem less daunting.

مثل حَبْسِ الأرْحامِ مَن يَنْجُ منه

مثل حَبْسِ الأرْحامِ مَن يَنْجُ منه

ما رأيْناه قَطُّ يدخلُ فِيهِ

ما رأيْناه قَطُّ يدخلُ فِيهِ

Like confinement in wombs—whoever escapes it,

We have never seen him enter it.
