وساحِرand a wizard المنْطِقِspeech; logic أظْهَرbrought forth الطِّلاَthe wine
وساحِر المنْطِقِ أظْهَر الطِّلاَ
فيin مَجْلِسٍa gathering يَسْعَىhastens لِرؤْياهُto behold it الْفَرَحْjoy
في مَجْلِسٍ يَسْعَى لِرؤْياهُ الْفَرَحْ
And a wizard of speech brought forth the wine
The magician of logic revealed the gleam
In a gathering that joy hastens to behold.
In a gathering striving for its joyous dream
رَتَّبَhe arranged شَكْلاًa syllogistic figure للسُّرورِfor delight مُنْتِجاًyielding a result
رَتَّبَ شَكْلاً للسُّرورِ مُنْتِجاً
الْجَرَّةَthe jar الكُبْرىthe major premise وصُغْراهand its minor premise الْقَدَحْthe goblet
الْجَرَّةَ الكُبْرى وصُغْراه الْقَدَحْ
He arranged a syllogism yielding delight:
He arranged a form for happiness, producing
The jar its major premise, and the goblet its minor.
The large jug and its little cups' gleam
