صَبرتُ لخَطْبِ زمانٍ دَهانِي

صَبرتُ لخَطْبِ زمانٍ دَهانِي

وأفْنَى الَّلآلِي شَيْدُ والِي المَبانِي

وأفْنَى الَّلآلِي شَيْدُ والِي المَبانِي

I patiently endured a calamity of time that befell me.

And construction by the governor of buildings consumed the pearls.

فشَالَتْ نَعامتُهم بالرَّدَى

فشَالَتْ نَعامتُهم بالرَّدَى

وفَرَّخَ رُوعِي بوَكْرِ الجِنانِ

وفَرَّخَ رُوعِي بوَكْرِ الجِنانِ

So death bore their ostrich aloft.

And my heart hatched its young in the nest of Paradise.
