على خَدِّه مُذْ لاح نَبْتُ عِذارِهِ
جرَتْflowed أدْمُعِيmy tears فيon الخدِّthe cheek ذاتَhaving صَبيبِa pouring flow
جرَتْ أدْمُعِي في الخدِّ ذاتَ صَبيبِ
Since his budding sideburns appeared upon his cheek,
My tears have streamed down my cheek in a torrent.
إذاwhen ماemphatic particle اسْتدارتْformed a circle دَارَةُhalo البَدْرِthe full moon حَوْلَهaround it
إذا ما اسْتدارتْ دَارَةُ البَدْرِ حَوْلَه
فإنَّthen indeed وُقوعَthe falling القَطْرِthe rain غيرُnot عَجِيبِsurprising
فإنَّ وُقوعَ القَطْرِ غيرُ عَجِيبِ
When the full moon's halo forms around it,
Then the falling of rain is no surprise.
