مِنfrom أكْرَمnoblest مُرْسَلmessenger عظيمgreat جَلاَّexalted
مِن أكْرَم مُرْسَل عظيم جَلاَّ
لمdid not تَدْنُdraw near ذُبابةٌa fly إذاwhen ماemphatic particle حَلاَّhe settled
لم تَدْنُ ذُبابةٌ إذا ما حَلاَّ
To the noblest messenger, great and exalted,
From the most noble of messengers, great and majestic,
No fly drew near whenever he settled.
No flies drew near when he was present.
هذاthis عَجَبٌa marvel ولمand did not يذُقْtaste ذوone possessing نَظَرٍdiscernment
هذا عَجَبٌ ولم يذُقْ ذو نَظَرٍ
فيin الموجُوداتِexisting things مِنthan حُلاهhis charms أحْلَىsweeter
في الموجُوداتِ مِن حُلاه أحْلَى
This is a marvel, and no discerning person has tasted
This is wondrous - one with insight never tasted
Among all that exists, anything sweeter than his charms.
In all creation sweeter than his company.
