لِفِراقِat parting from طهTaha بَعْدَماafter خَطَبَاhe preached
لِفِراقِ طه بَعْدَما خَطَبَا
So the trunk yearned and groaned in anguish
The trunk has bent, for it mourned the separation from Taha
at parting from Taha after he had preached.
After they had been companions
وغَداand it became غِراساًa planted tree فيin الجِنانِthe gardens of Paradise لهit has

ثَمَرٌ يَطِيبُ بِمَنْهَلٍ عَذُبَا
And it became a tree planted in Paradise, with
It has become a sapling in the gardens for him
fruit that grows sweet from a sweet-water spring.
With fruit perfumed by a sweet spring
والمُشرِكونand the polytheists قَسَتْgrew hard قلوبُهُمtheir hearts

فطَغَوْاso they transgressed ولمand did not يُصْغُواheed لخيرٍto the best نَبَاtidings
فطَغَوْا ولم يُصْغُوا لخيرٍ نَبَا
And the polytheists' hearts grew hard;
And the polytheists, their hearts have hardened
so they transgressed and did not heed the best tidings.
So they rebelled and did not listen to any good news
فغَدَوْاso they became وهمwhile they were خُشُبٌtimbers مُسَنَّدةٌpropped up

ستَراهمُ لِجَهَنَّمٍ حَطَبَا
Thus they became propped-up timbers;
Thus they have become like propped up firewood
you will see them as firewood for Hell.
