مَلَكْتُI acquired منthrough القَنْعِcontentment كَنْزَthe treasure of الغِنَىwealth
مَلَكْتُ من القَنْعِ كَنْزَ الغِنَى
وقالand said اصْطبارِيَmy steadfast patience مَنwhoever عَزَّprevailed بَزّtook the spoils
وقال اصْطبارِيَ مَن عَزَّ بَزّ
Through contentment I have acquired the treasure of wealth.
I have attained through contentment the treasure of wealth,
And my steadfast patience said: “Whoever prevails takes the spoils.”
And my patience has said, "He who prevails is the one who endures."
فإنso if عَزّgrew proud ذوa possessor of الجْاهِrank منfrom كِبْرِهhis pride
فإن عَزّ ذو الجْاهِ من كِبْرِه
فَجَاهُthen the honor of القَناعةِcontentment عنديto me أعَزّdearer
فَجَاهُ القَناعةِ عندي أعَزّ
So if a man of rank exalts himself out of pride,
So if the one of high status prevails through his arrogance,
then the honor of contentment is dearer to me.
Then in my view, the status of contentment is more honorable.
