قالوا قضى بركات قلت فحق لي

قالوا قضى بركات قلت فحق لي

أن أتبع العبراتِ بالزفرات

They said, “Barakat has died.” I said, “Then it is right for me

They said Al-Barakat passed away, I said it's true for me

To follow tears with sighs.”

يا ترحة الأحياء عند فراقه

يا ترحة الأحياء عند فراقه

وبقربه يا فرحة الأموات

وبقربه يا فرحة الأموات

O sorrow of the living at his departure!

O joy of the living during his farewell

And with him near, O joy of the dead!

And in his presence, O happiness of the dead

والكعبة الغراء قالت قد غدا

والكعبة الغراء قالت قد غدا

لبس الحداد عليه من عاداتي

لبس الحداد عليه من عاداتي

And the radiant Kaaba said, “It has now become

The glorious Kaaba said he began

One of my customs to wear mourning for him.”

To wear mourning for him out of my traditions

فانظر إلى آثاره في مكة

فانظر إلى آثاره في مكة

فرحا بها لم تخل من بركات

فرحا بها لم تخل من بركات

So look at his works in Mecca,

So look at his effects in Mecca

Rejoicing in them: she has not been bereft of blessings.

Happy with them, never missing blessings
