أيها البارع الذي كم أحاجي

أيها البارع الذي كم أحاجي

حل من ربقة المعمى ولغزا

O masterful one, who so many riddles

O skilled one who has solved many riddles

Has freed from enigma’s noose, and many a puzzle:

From the subtlety of the blind and mysteries

أي شيء حاكي الدياجي وحاكت

أي شيء حاكي الدياجي وحاكت

عند تنميقه الأنامل طرزا

عند تنميقه الأنامل طرزا

What thing resembles the dark of night, while

What thing resembles the twilight and resembled

Fingers have woven patterns in its embellishment?

When the fingers arrange patterns

ومن البيض كم تحلى بوصل

ومن البيض كم تحلى بوصل

وإليه ما زالت السمر تعزى

وإليه ما زالت السمر تعزى

And how often it has been adorned through union with the white ones;

And from the eggs how are adorned with reunions

And to it the brown ones are still ascribed.

And to it the night is still attributed

وبه تحفظ الشرائع حتى

وبه تحفظ الشرائع حتى

صار صوتا لكل شرع وحرزا

صار صوتا لكل شرع وحرزا

And through it the sacred laws are preserved, so that

And by it the laws are preserved until

It has become a voice and a safeguard for every sacred law.

It became a voice for every law and amulet

أخرس يوسع الأنام حديثا

أخرس يوسع الأنام حديثا

وله الدهر لست تسمع ركزا

وله الدهر لست تسمع ركزا

Mute, it lavishes speech upon humankind,

A mute who brings ease to people with speech

Yet through all time you hear not a whisper from it.

For it the ages you do not hear murmuring

فأجب فهو في الخفاء جلى

فأجب فهو في الخفاء جلى

زاداك الله رفع قدر وعزا

زاداك الله رفع قدر وعزا

So answer, for it is manifest even in concealment.

So answer for it is clear in the unseen

May God grant you higher rank and greater honor.

May God increase your honor and glory
