  1. يا نزهة السمع سكنت الثرى

    فللملاهي أيما لهفي

    O delight of hearing, you have come to rest in the earth.

    So how great is my grief for the musical instruments!

  2. كم لطمة من قدم أويدٍ

    في خدى الدكة والدفِ

    How many a slap from a foot or a hand

    Upon the cheeks of the platform and the tambourine!
