فقد الدنيا وأبقى ما روى
May God have mercy on al-Nawaji, for he has
May God have mercy on parting friends
lost the world and left behind what he narrated.
For they have left this world yet what they sowed remains
وانطوىand he was enfolded فيin شقةthe expanse البينseparation فياso, oh
وانطوى في شقة البين فيا
حسروsorrow (apparently intended as حسرة) العشاقthe lovers منfrom بعدafter النواجيal-Nawaji
حسرو العشاق من بعد النواجي
And he was enfolded in the expanse of separation—oh,
And so they fold into the crease of separation—how I grieve,
the lovers' sorrow after al-Nawaji!
