قَابل النورُ ظُلمةَ الحَلَكِ

بصبَاحٍ منير

بصبَاحٍ منير

The light confronted the gloom of pitch darkness

The light met the darkness of space

with a radiant dawn.

With a radiant morning,

ورقا النجمُ ذُرْوَةَ الفَلَكِ

ورقا النجمُ ذُرْوَةَ الفَلَكِ

خَائِفاً مستجيرْ

خَائِفاً مستجيرْ

And the star ascended to the summit of the firmament,

And the star shook the apex of the orbit

fearful, seeking refuge

Frightened, seeking refuge,

بأبِي عمروٍ الرّضَى المَلَكِ

بأبِي عمروٍ الرّضَى المَلَكِ

من سعير الهجيرْ

من سعير الهجيرْ

with Abu Amr, the well-pleasing king,

By my father Amr, the angel of contentment

from the blaze of the midday heat.

From the blazing ember.
