نَبَّهَawakened النّائِمَthe sleeper تَغْرِيدُthe cooing of الحَمَامْthe doves
نَبَّهَ النّائِمَ تَغْرِيدُ الحَمَامْ
فِيin ذُرَىthe crowns of الدَّوْحْthe spreading trees
فِي ذُرَى الدَّوْحْ
The cooing of doves awakened the sleeper
The cooing of the dove awoke the slumberer
in the crowns of spreading trees.
In the bosom of the vale,
وَمَحَاand erased مَاءُthe water of الضّيَاradiance حِبْرَthe ink of الظَّلاَمْdarkness
وَمَحَا مَاءُ الضّيَا حِبْرَ الظَّلاَمْ
بِيَدِby the hand of الصُّبْحdawn
بِيَدِ الصُّبْح
And the water of radiance erased the ink of darkness
And the morning light wiped out the ink of darkness
by the hand of dawn.
With the hand of dawn,
وَتَلاَand recited الزَّهْرُthe blossoms عَلَىto سَمْعِthe hearing of الكَمَامْthe bud-sheaths
وَتَلاَ الزَّهْرُ عَلَى سَمْعِ الكَمَامْ
سُورَةَthe surah (chapter) of الفَتحْal-Fath (Victory; also opening)
سُورَةَ الفَتحْ
And the blossoms recited to the ears of the bud-sheaths
And the flowers recited to the hearing of the buds
