يَاO رَاحِلاًone departing عَنِّيfrom me وَمَسْكَنُهُand his dwelling الحَشَاthe heart's depths
يَا رَاحِلاً عَنِّي وَمَسْكَنُهُ الحَشَا
مَاwhat ضَرَّharm would it do لَوْif خَيَّمْتَyou pitched your tent بَيْنَbetween مَحَاجِرِيmy eye sockets
مَا ضَرَّ لَوْ خَيَّمْتَ بَيْنَ مَحَاجِرِي
O you who depart from me, though your dwelling is in my heart,
O you who travel away from me, whose dwelling is the desert,
What harm would it do if you pitched your tent between my eye sockets,
What harm if you camped between my eyelids
لِتَرَاكَso it may see you عَيْنِيmy eye كُلَّevery حِينٍmoment مِثْلَمَاjust as
لِتَرَاكَ عَيْنِي كُلَّ حِينٍ مِثْلَمَا
قَلْبِيmy heart يَرَاكَsees you مُمَثَّلاًpictured فِيin خَاطِرِيmy mind
قَلْبِي يَرَاكَ مُمَثَّلاً فِي خَاطِرِي
So that my eye might see you every moment, just as
So my eyes could see you at all times, as
My heart sees you pictured in my mind?
My heart sees you imaged in my thoughts
