يَاO رَبِّmy Lord قَدْindeed سَاءَتْturned bleak ظُنُونِيmy expectations إذْwhen سَجَاsettled
دَاجِيthe deep darkness of ضَلاَلِيmy straying وَاخْتَفَىand vanished صُبْحُthe dawn of الهُدَىguidance
O Lord, my expectations turned bleak as there settled
O Lord, my suspicions have worsened as the darkness of my misguidance has prevailed, and the dawn of guidance has disappeared.
the deep darkness of my straying, and the dawn of guidance vanished.
My hair has turned white when it saw my heart whitened with sins and darkened.
وَابْيَضَّand turned white أسْوَدُthe black hair of مَفْرِقِيmy hair-parting لَمَّاwhen رَأىit saw
مُبْيَضَّthe whiteness of قَلْبِيmy heart بِالذُّنُوبِwith sins تَسَوَّداَturned black
And the black hair at my parting turned white when it saw
But good opinion urges me to call upon You, O You Who are uniquely characterized by benevolence.
the whiteness of my heart grow black with sins.
So by the rank of Ya Seen the Intercessor, save me from the evil of my self, passions, and the transgressor.
لَكِنَّbut حُسْنَgoodness of الظَّنّexpectation يَدْعُونِيcalls me لأنْto
أدْعُوكَI call upon You يَاO مَنْone who بِالْجَمِيلِin goodness تَفَرَّداَis peerless
Yet hopeful trust calls me to
And answer my prayer, pardon my sin, and be generous, for my good opinion in You has extended its hand.
call upon You, O You who are peerless in goodness.
فَبِجَاهِso, by the honor of يسYā Sīn المُشَفَّعِthe one whose intercession is accepted نَجِّنِيsave me
مِنْfrom شَرّthe evil of نَفْسِيmy soul وَالهَوَىand passion وَمَنِand whoever اعْتَدَىhas transgressed
So, by the honor of Yā Sīn, whose intercession is accepted, save me
from the evil of my soul, of passion, and of whoever has transgressed.
وَأجِبْand answer دُعَائِيmy prayer وَاعْفُand pardon عَنْregarding ذَنْبِيmy sin وَجُدْand give generously
فَجَمِيلُfor the goodness of ظَنِّيmy expectation فِيكَin You قَدْindeed بَسَطَstretched out الْيَداَthe hand
And answer my prayer, pardon my sin, and give generously,
for my hopeful trust in You has stretched out its hand.
