Your servant has a need, O rain for the hopeful;
Your servant has a need, O cloud of hope
I defer it, while the rain's recurring blessings are awaited.
I postpone it, awaiting the return of its rains
وَحَاشَاكمand far be it from you أنْto تقْطعُواyou cut off صِلَةَthe support of الَّذِيthe one who

Far be it from you to cut off the support of one
Far be it from you to sever ties with one
Whose livelihood has clung to the hem of your bounty.
Whose hopes cling to the hem of your call

And how could I thirst, when the sea of your bounty
How can I despair, when your sea of bounty
Has open outlets and watering places?
Has sources ever-flowing, streams ever-pouring

And I surely know that whoever seeks your door—
Indeed, I know whoever seeks your door
His aims have indeed sought him out, bringing him good.
Seeks it with the best of intentions
