    يَرُوقُكَ مَا تُهْدِيهِ لِلْعَيْنِ جِلْوَتِي

    Let your gaze roam over the beauty of my being and my splendor;

what my unveiling offers to the eye will delight you.

And ask about the domes of glory one who knows

that the radiant stars have alighted on earth.

Domes that pure beauty has clothed in a robe

whose pure beauty outshines every robe.

And blossom kindled within them the lamp of its light,

then confronted the darkness with rays from its light.

Gardens of felicity unveiled them in robes of splendor,

and they eclipsed the flower gardens when they shone forth.

In a vineyard upon soft ground, their courtyards revealed

to us pearls of glory that had appeared.

Thus in all that we see is every sign,

and in all that we hear is every melody:

landmarks of kings and moons of one rightly guided,

and lights of understanding and secrets of wisdom,

and a spreading tree for gazelles and a horizon of crescents,

and a spring abode of lights and a spreading tree of paradise.

You would take their ground for a sky, as there arose

their blossoms, like bright stars above the Milky Way.

Among them, a ban tree watered with cups of irises,

and a rose greeting with a blossom's sleeves,

and a stream gliding like speckled serpents when

it was wrinkled by the hands of the east wind as it blew,

and a bird singing on every ban tree,

so in melody it voiced the most wondrous trill,

and a breeze whose folded fragrance tells us

of the fortunate king, the full moon of deep darkness.

whenever a band of them sets itself to oppression.

A leader through whom the hands of noble deeds were strengthened,

and a lion through whom the hand of injustice was restrained.

Possessed of valor and bounty, he is hoped for and feared

for days of peace or days of strife.

Compassionate toward the afflicted, even when time betrays him,

forgiving of the offender when his foot slips.

Charging at his enemies from every side,

tender toward his companions in every direction.

A steward of affairs who never issues his judgment

only to gnash the tooth of heedlessness over issuing it.

whose pillars have risen above al-Simak.

He rose to a station such that, were they to ascend to his gate,

the full moons of dark nights could not find their way so high.

Generous, he turns drought back into fertility, as though

his hands had burst forth with pouring rain.

There is no flaw in his bounty, except that it

was prepared for his petitioner before the asking.

His aspiration has surpassed every aspiration,

through a royal reign that puts every reign to shame.

Joy to the delegation journeying to his gate:

indeed, they praised their night journey at the dawn of delight.

to you, and the hands of circumstance are stretched toward you.

upon a heart prepared to perish for your sake.

my honor, my authority, my treasure, and my mainstay.

and standing, victory, ascendancy, and eminence,

and pride, glory, power, and elevation.
