لَوْ رَأى الأعْشَى سَنَاهُ لاَعْتَبَرْ

لَوْ رَأى الأعْشَى سَنَاهُ لاَعْتَبَرْ

وَغَدَا مَوْهُومْ

وَغَدَا مَوْهُومْ

If al-Aʿshā had seen his radiance, he would have taken heed,

Had Al-A'sha seen his youth, he would have learned,

and would have become illusory.

and tomorrow is anxiety's realm.

قِسْمَةُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى المُقْتَدِرْ

قِسْمَةُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى المُقْتَدِرْ

وَالعَطَا مَقْسُومْ

وَالعَطَا مَقْسُومْ

The allotment of God—exalted is He, the All-Powerful—

The division of Almighty God is predestined,

and the bounty is apportioned.

and the gifts are apportioned.
