قَدِمْت على الجَوَادِ بِفَقْرِ عَبْدٍ

قَدِمْت على الجَوَادِ بِفَقْرِ عَبْدٍ

يرَى أنْ لاَ اَفْتِقَارَ مَعَ الجَوَادِ

يرَى أنْ لاَ اَفْتِقَارَ مَعَ الجَوَادِ

I came to the generous one with a servant’s poverty,

I came to the generous with the poverty of a servant

Who believes there is no want with the generous one.

Who sees that with the generous there is no need for provisions

وَلَمْ أجْنَحْ لِزَادٍ فِي طَرِيقِي

وَلَمْ أجْنَحْ لِزَادٍ فِي طَرِيقِي

وَمَنْ يَقْصْدُه لم يَجْنَحْ لِزَادِ

وَمَنْ يَقْصْدُه لم يَجْنَحْ لِزَادِ

And I did not turn to provisions on my way;

And I did not prepare supplies for my journey

And whoever seeks him does not turn to provisions.

For he who seeks the generous did not prepare supplies
