تَمَّ حُسْناً وَبَدَا بَدْرَ تَمَامْ

في اللَّيَالِي السُّودْ

في اللَّيَالِي السُّودْ

He was perfect in beauty and appeared as a full moon

The moon became full and appeared

in the black nights.

In the black nights

قُلْتُ يَا بُشْرَايَ بَلْ هَذا غُلاَمْ

قُلْتُ يَا بُشْرَايَ بَلْ هَذا غُلاَمْ

مَالِكِي المَسْعُودْ

مَالِكِي المَسْعُودْ

I said, 'O my joy! Rather, this is a youth—

I said: O harbinger of good news! No, this is a boy

my fortunate master,

إبْنَ مَوْلايَ أبِي عَمْرِو الإمامْ

إبْنَ مَوْلايَ أبِي عَمْرِو الإمامْ

كَهْفِ أهْلِ الجُودْ

كَهْفِ أهْلِ الجُودْ

son of my lord Abu Amr, the imam,

The son of my master Abu Amr the Imam

the refuge of the generous.'
