نَوَّلَgranted العَافِينَthose seeking bounty مَاwhatever شَاءَwilled القَدَرْfate
نَوَّلَ العَافِينَ مَا شَاءَ القَدَرْ
وَالقَضَاand destiny مَحْتُومْinevitable
وَالقَضَا مَحْتُومْ
He granted those seeking bounty whatever fate willed;
The fate of those who chose to flee was decreed
And destiny is inevitable.
By destiny's immutable force.
وَسَقَىand made drink العَاصِينَthe disobedient فيin كَأسِthe cup of الضَّرَرْharm
وَسَقَى العَاصِينَ في كَأسِ الضَّرَرْ
عَلْقَماًcolocynth (bitter gourd) مَسْمُومْpoisoned
عَلْقَماً مَسْمُومْ
And made the disobedient drink from the cup of harm
And those who disobeyed were made to bleed
Poisoned colocynth.
From cups of poison without recourse.
