لِتُهْنَmay you be felicitated on شَهْرَthe month of الصومfasting يَاO مَالِكًاsovereign
لِتُهْنَ شَهْرَ الصوم يَا مَالِكًا
أضْحَتْhave come to be أمانيthe hopes of الخلقhumankind طُرًّاall لَدَيْكْwith you
أضْحَتْ أماني الخلق طُرًّا لَدَيْكْ
May you be felicitated on the month of fasting, O sovereign!
All humankind’s hopes now rest with you.
شهرٌa month حَبَاكَbestowed upon you اللَّهُGod فِيهِin it الرّضَىfavor
شهرٌ حَبَاكَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ الرّضَى
وَأسْبَغَand lavished الخيرَاتِblessings فِيهِin it عَلَيْكupon you
وَأسْبَغَ الخيرَاتِ فِيهِ عَلَيْك
A month in which God has bestowed His favor upon you
And in it lavished blessings upon you.
كَأنَّهُas though it فِيupon أفْقِهِits horizon زَوْرَقٌa skiff
كَأنَّهُ فِي أفْقِهِ زَوْرَقٌ
قَدْalready جَهَّزُوهُthey fitted it out بِالتَّهانِيwith congratulations إلَيْكto you
قَدْ جَهَّزُوهُ بِالتَّهانِي إلَيْك
As though it were a skiff upon its horizon,
That they have fitted out with congratulations for you.
