جَرَى فِي ثَغْرُو الأعْطَرْ

شَرَابْ جُلاَّبْ وَنَوْفَرْ مْعَطَّرْ

There flowed within his most fragrant mouth

In his most fragrant mouth flowed

a draught of rosewater cordial and perfumed water lily;

A perfumed drink of rosewater syrup and water lily.

وَرِيقُو الحِلْو مُسْكِرْ

وَرِيقُو الحِلْو مُسْكِرْ

مَزْج قَهْوَه بسُكَّرْ مكَرَّرْ

مَزْج قَهْوَه بسُكَّرْ مكَرَّرْ

and the sweet beloved’s intoxicating saliva—

And his sweet saliva is intoxicating—

a blend of coffee with refined sugar.

A blend of wine with refined sugar.
