وَبِي بَدْرٌ تَجَلَّى فَوْقَ غُصْنٍ

وَبِي بَدْرٌ تَجَلَّى فَوْقَ غُصْنٍ

وَهَلْ أبْصَرْتَ بدراً هَزَّ غُصنَا

وَهَلْ أبْصَرْتَ بدراً هَزَّ غُصنَا

And I have a full moon that shone forth above a bough.

A full moon appeared above a branch

And have you seen a full moon shake a bough?

Have you ever seen a moon that shook a branch?

لَهُ طرفٌ أعَادَ الجفنَ سيفاً

لَهُ طرفٌ أعَادَ الجفنَ سيفاً

والحاظٌ أعَدْنَ السيفَ جفنَا

والحاظٌ أعَدْنَ السيفَ جفنَا

He has a gaze that turned the eyelid into a sword,

With lashes that returned the eyelid a sword

and glances that turned the sword into a sheath.

And pupils that returned the sword an eyelid
