سَبَى قَلْبِي بِطَرْفٍ بَابِلِيِّ
And I am smitten with a young gazelle, crescent-faced,
My crescent-shaped idol with his smiling cheeks
Who captured my heart with a Babylonian glance.
Has captured my heart with a Babylonian glance,

The rosewater of his cheek became musk-scented
The water of his rosy cheek clung
With the musk of his fragrant, dewy mole.
To the charm of his delicate, yet firm neck.

And cheek-down hinted at the garden of his cheek:
In the garden of his cheek blooms a rose,
I see sweet basil amid freshly picked roses.
I see the basil in his flowery cheeks.
