وَيَمٍّ هَاجَتِ الأمْوَاجُ فِيهِ

وَيَمٍّ هَاجَتِ الأمْوَاجُ فِيهِ

فَخِلْنَا البَطَّ تَكْرَعُ فِي حياض

فَخِلْنَا البَطَّ تَكْرَعُ فِي حياض

And a sea in which the waves surged—

The waves surged in turmoil,

So we imagined ducks drinking in pools,

While we left the ducks to splash in the ponds,

أو الآفَاقَ أظهرتِ الدَّرَارِي

أو الآفَاقَ أظهرتِ الدَّرَارِي

أو الأنهارَ لاَحَتْ في رياض

أو الأنهارَ لاَحَتْ في رياض

Or horizons revealing brilliant stars,

Or the horizons revealed their treasures,

Or rivers appearing amid gardens.

Or the rivers shone in the meadows.
