فَخِلْتُso I fancied آساًmyrtle صَاغَfashioned وَرْدَa bloom of أقَاحِdaisies
An emerging rose crept along the slope of the cheek;
A blush creeps over the cheek's slope,
So I fancied myrtle had fashioned a bloom of daisies;
So I became lovesick for the blush of a maiden in bloom.
وَامْتَدَّand stretched فَوْقَabove الثَّغرِthe mouth شَارِبُهُhis moustache كَمَاlike

And his moustache stretched above the mouth, like
And his mustache stretched over the lips,
A fringe of night above the mouth of morning.
Like a starry night over the edge of dawn.
