مِثْلِ الشفَقِ
A gazelle was veiled, then revealed a crimson hue
A maiden unveiled and dawn disclosed
like the twilight glow.
The hue of sunset;
لاَحَتْshe shone قَمَراًas a moon وَمَايَسَتْand she swayed عَنْfrom بَانِa bān tree
لاَحَتْ قَمَراً وَمَايَسَتْ عَنْ بَانِ
لَدْنٍsupple رَشِقٍslender
لَدْنٍ رَشِقٍ
She shone as a moon and swayed, revealing a bān tree,
A moon she shone though not bedight with gold,
supple and slender.
Nor silver zone high girt.
