قَدْindeed زَارَvisited فِيduring الْعِيدِEid ظَبْيٌa gazelle
كَالْبَدْرِlike the full moon قُلْنَاwe said تَبَارَكْbe blessed
A gazelle has come visiting at Eid,
A gazelle visited us on Eid
Like the full moon—we said, “Be blessed!”
Like the full moon, we said, blessed be
فَقُلْتُso I said مَاwhat الإسْمُthe name قُلْtell لِيme
فَقَدْfor indeed أمِنَّاwe felt safe from نِفَارَكْyour shying away
So I said, “What is your name? Tell me,
I asked, what is your name, tell me
For we have no fear of your shying away.”
For we fear your departure
فَقَالَthen he said لِيto me الإسْمُthe name عِيدٌEid
فَقُلْتُso I said عِيدٌEid مُبَارَكْblessed
Then he said to me, “The name is Eid.”
He said to me, my name is Eid
So I said, “A blessed Eid!”
I said, blessed Eid
