رَأيْتُI saw الثريَّاthe Pleiades فيin الظلاَمِthe darkness يَؤُمُّهَاheads toward them
رَأيْتُ الثريَّا في الظلاَمِ يَؤُمُّهَا
عُطَارِدُهَاtheir Mercury وَهْوand it is الشِّهَابُthe meteor المُنَوَّرُradiant
عُطَارِدُهَا وَهْو الشِّهَابُ المُنَوَّرُ
I saw the Pleiades in the darkness, approached by
I saw Venus in the darkness, attended
their Mercury, the radiant meteor,
By its suitor the shining meteor.
كَحَسْكَةِlike a candelabrum دُرٍّpearls تَوَّجُوهاthey crowned it بِشَمعةٍwith a candle
كَحَسْكَةِ دُرٍّ تَوَّجُوها بِشَمعةٍ
ذُبَالَتُهَاits wick الياقوتُruby والجسمُand the body عَنْبَرُambergris
ذُبَالَتُهَا الياقوتُ والجسمُ عَنْبَرُ
like a candelabrum of pearls they crowned with a candle,
Like a pearl set aglow by a candle—
whose wick is ruby and whose body is ambergris.
Ruby and amber adorned the sphere.
