مولايَmy lord ياO بدرَfull moon كلِّevery داجيةٍdark night
مولايَ يا بدرَ كلِّ داجيةٍ
خذtake بيدِيby my hand قدindeed وقعتُI have fallen فيinto اللُّجَجِthe deep waters
خذ بيدِي قد وقعتُ في اللُّجَجِ
My lord, O full moon of every darkness,
My lord, O full moon of every dark night,
Take my hand—I have fallen into the surging depths.
Take me by the hand; I have fallen into the deep waters.
حُسنُكyour beauty ماnot تنقضِيcome to an end عجائبُهُits wonders
حُسنُك ما تنقضِي عجائبُهُ
كالبحرِlike the sea حدّثْspeak عنهabout it بلاwithout حَرَجِrestraint
كالبحرِ حدّثْ عنه بلا حَرَجِ
The wonders of your beauty never end,
Your beauty’s wonders never end;
Like the sea: speak of it without restraint.

بحقّby the right of منthe One who خطّtraced عارِضَيْكthe down on your two cheeks ومَنْand the One who
بحقّ من خطّ عارِضَيْك ومَنْ
سلّطَgave power to سُلطانَهاits dominion علىover المُهَجِsouls
سلّطَ سُلطانَها على المُهَجِ
By the One who traced the down upon your cheeks, and who
By the One who traced the down on your cheeks, and the One who
Made its dominion prevail over souls,
Gave it dominion over souls,
مُدَّstretch out يديكَyour two hands الكريمتينِthe two generous ones مَعِيwith me
مُدَّ يديكَ الكريمتينِ مَعِي
ثمّthen اِدعُpray لِيfor me مِنfrom هواكlove of you بالفَرَجِfor relief
ثمّ اِدعُ لِي مِن هواك بالفَرَجِ
Reach out your two generous hands to me,
Stretch out your two generous hands with me,
Then pray that I be delivered from loving you.
Then pray for my relief from loving you.
