    ما يَنقَضي شُغُلٌ إلّا إلى شُغِلِ

    I have seen you amid affairs that are unclear;

    No occupation ends except to lead to another.

    So if those occupations cut you off

    From others, then may God cure them of their ailments.

    And if that is a hindrance to your evil

    Against us, then how welcome those occupations are as fetters!

    No good lies in one whom hope has chosen to forget, so no

    Little daughters of hope travel to him by night.

    And no one spent the night, because of him—even if far

    From him his dwelling lay—except in fear.
