قولوا لِمَن غَلط الزّمان بِهِ

قولوا لِمَن غَلط الزّمان بِهِ

فَأَنالَه ما لم يَكنْ حَسِبَهْ

فَأَنالَه ما لم يَكنْ حَسِبَهْ

Tell the one in whose case Time erred,

and so granted him what he had not expected:

لا تَفرحنَّ بِما أَتاكَ بِهِ

لا تَفرحنَّ بِما أَتاكَ بِهِ

فَالدّهرُ يَسلُبُ كلَّ مَا وَهَبَهْ

فَالدّهرُ يَسلُبُ كلَّ مَا وَهَبَهْ

Do not rejoice in what it brought you,

for Time takes away all that it bestowed.

إِنَّ الزّمانَ أَرادَ طُرفَتَنا

إِنَّ الزّمانَ أَرادَ طُرفَتَنا

فَأرى بِما أَعطَاكَهُ عجَبَهْ

فَأرى بِما أَعطَاكَهُ عجَبَهْ

Indeed, Time wished to amuse us,

so it displayed its marvel in what it gave you.
