Do not ask youth of me, for
Do not ask me for youth, for
my youth is no longer with me, and gray age has arrived.
I have no youth, and gray hair has arrived.

Where is my youth, when I have exceeded

Whoever sought good cheer in me—by God—
So whoever sought in me cheerfulness and amusement
he found neither it nor even a little vigor.
and some vigor found none.

For gone from my hand, and parted from me,
For there has passed from my hand and left me
