تعالوْا إلى ما بيننا من تجرُّمٍ

تعالوْا إلى ما بيننا من تجرُّمٍ

ومن ذاك ما تُحنى عليه الأضالعُ

ومن ذاك ما تُحنى عليه الأضالعُ

Come, let us address the grievances between us,

Come to what is between us of trespassing

And among them are those the ribs enfold.

And from that what ribs are bent over

نَقُلْ فيه لا تثريبَ يوماً عليكُمُ

نَقُلْ فيه لا تثريبَ يوماً عليكُمُ

كما قال مَن أثنتْ عليه القوارعُ

كما قال مَن أثنتْ عليه القوارعُ

Let us say of them, 'No reproach upon you, ever,'

We will convey in it, never reproaching you

As did the one whom calamities praised.

As the one said whom death ships praised

فعُمْرُ التَّلاحي في الهوى غيرُ عامرٍ

فعُمْرُ التَّلاحي في الهوى غيرُ عامرٍ

وعيشٌ به هجرُ الأحبّةِ ضائعُ

وعيشٌ به هجرُ الأحبّةِ ضائعُ

For a life of mutual reproach in love does not flourish,

For living to meet in passion is not prosperous

And a life of estrangement from loved ones is wasted.

And life in it is separation from loved ones lost
