ياO ناقضاًbreaker لعهودِof the pledges مَنone who لمdid not يَنقُضِbreak
يا ناقضاً لعهودِ مَن لم يَنقُضِ
كمmany a مقبلٍone drawing near نالattained المُنىwishes منfrom مُعرِضِone turning away
كم مقبلٍ نال المُنى من مُعرِضِ
O you who break the pledges of one who never broke them!
Many a lover drawing near has won his wishes from one who turns away.
مَطَرتْrained عليناupon us مِنfrom سَمائكyour sky جفوةٌcoldness
مَطَرتْ علينا مِن سَمائك جفوةٌ
هَطَلتْpoured down ولامعُand the gleam برقِهاof its lightning لمdid not يومِضِflash
هَطَلتْ ولامعُ برقِها لم يومِضِ
Coldness rained upon us from your sky;
It poured down, though the gleam of its lightning had not flashed.
ماذاwhat يَنالgains مُحَكَّمٌone granted full sway متجرِّمٌone finding fault without cause
ماذا يَنال مُحَكَّمٌ متجرِّمٌ
فيin كلّevery يومٍday منfrom محبّa lover مُغمِضِoverlooking faults
في كلّ يومٍ من محبّ مُغمِضِ
What does a fault-finder, granted full sway, gain
