كَراسيكِyour chairs ضَربٌa beating وَالبِساطُand the carpet تُرابُdust
وَبَيتَكَand your house يُبسٌdryness وَالنِدامُand the boon companions عِقابُpunishment
Your chairs are a beating, and the carpet is dust;
Your couches are beaten and the carpet is dust
and your house is dryness, and the boon companions are punishment.
And your home is withered and regret is torment
فَلاso do not تَطمَعَنever hope مِنfrom عَذبِsweet water قُربىmy closeness بِشَربَةٍfor a draught
فَقُربُكَfor your closeness لِلظاميto the thirsty one إِلَيهِfor it سَرابُa mirage
So do not hope for a draught of the sweet waters of my closeness,
So do not covet sweet proximity in drinking
for your closeness is a mirage to one thirsting for it.
For your proximity to the thirsty is a mirage
فَماfor ... not طَلَعَتrose مُذsince كُنتَyou were شَمسُthe sun زِيارَتيmy visit
عَلىover وَطَنٍa dwelling لِلبُخلِfor miserliness فيهِin it ضَبابُfog
For since you came to be, the sun of my visits has never risen
No sun has risen since you were the sun of my visit
over a dwelling where miserliness has its fog.
Upon a homeland where miserliness is mist
