When my tongue gleams upon the back of its speech,
When my tongue flashes clear in eloquent speech
it hurls from it at the ear a white-blazed, white-socked steed.
It casts at the ears a pearl-string well strung
فَso لاتُنكِرَنdo not find it strange أَنthat قُلتُI said ماwhat لاnot تَقولُهُyou say it
فَمِثلِfor, like عَلِيٍّAli مَنwhoever تَكَلَّمَspoke مِنfrom عَلِon high
So do not find it strange that I have said what you do not say;
So blame me not if I say what none would say
for whoever speaks from on high is like Ali.
For the like of Ali is he whence speech has sprung
