فِداءَهُ مِن خَليلِ
We have a dear friend—may we be made
We have a friend for whose sake
his ransom: what a friend!
We'd ransom our very lives

أَظعانُها بِالرَحيلِ
When people are given largesse, reluctant
When others play, her yearning
are its caravans to depart;
Makes departure her sad prize

his gifts make their way to us
She came to us, though distant,
on the mules of revenue.
On mounts of noble descent
